Three US Water Ski Athletes Win Titles At 2010 Junior Moomba Masters
Athletes score major titles at season-opening event in Australia
POLK CITY, Fla. – U.S. water ski athletes Makayla Haw (Rio Linda, Calif.), Lauren Morgan
(Odessa, Fla.) and Zane Nicholson (Gallatin, Tenn.) won titles in respective events Thursday as the
2010 Junior Moomba Masters concluded on the Yarra River in Melbourne, Australia.
Morgan won titles in women’s tricks and overall, scoring 4,050 points and 2,904.55 points,
respectively. Haw won women’s slalom, scoring 3 buoys at 35 feet off. Nicholson won men’s slalom,
scoring 4 buoys at 38 feet off. Morgan, who also won the 2009 Junior Moomba Masters’ overall title,
finished second in jumping and 10th in slalom. Haw placed third in jumping and overall, and fourth in
tricks.
U.S. athletes Anna Gay (Winter Garden, Fla.), Julia Waitt (Clermont, Fla.), Nikki Waitt
(Clermont, Fla.) and Jenna Morgan (Odessa, Fla.) also competed in the event. Gay finished second in
women’s tricks; Morgan finished eighth in women’s tricks and 13th in slalom; Julia Waitt finished seventh
in women’s slalom; and Nikki Waitt finished fourth in women’s slalom and fifth in women’s jumping.
