Cobra Racers Ramp Up For Next Weeks Mini Olympics!
Highly favored Cobra 50cc class racers include mini legend Adam Cianciarulo on his last national race ever with Cobra
NORTH LIMA, Ohio, (Nov. 17, 2005) – Led by racers on the Cobra brand “King Cobra” minicycle, worlds top young racers will descend upon Gatorback Cycle Park in Alachua, Fla., next week for the 34th running of the AMA Winter National Olympics – aka the Mini Os.
With the ‘supercross racing format of the event beginning on Monday, Nov. 21st and culminating with the final ‘motocross format races on Saturday, Nov. 25th, Cobra plans on being well-represented on the 50cc class podiums through out the week – just as they have since the companys inception in 1993.
“Not since the Amateur Nationals at Lorettas has an event of this magnitude been held for the up-and-coming stars of motocross here in the United States,” said Cobra President Sean Hilbert. “The kids are hungry, our American-made bikes are ready and were confident that Cobra will again be the most talked about bike in its class come next Saturdays awards ceremony at Gatorback Cycle Park.”
Leading the way for Cobra – in his last national racer ever on the Cobra brand minicycle – will be the all-time most winningest 50cc class racer, Floridas own Adam Cianciarulo. The nine-year-old from Port Orange will cap off the most impressive season ever by a 50cc racer this next week at him home state track at Gatorback, hoping to add to his list of titles this summer that run from Lake Whitney through Lorettas – and all stops in between, including the World Mini Trophy in Belgium where Cianciarulo helped Team USA dominate the 50cc class.
“Were looking forward to being with Adam and his family next week for his final race with us,” said Hilbert. “Hes had a storybook racing career on Cobras and were hoping, as his stardom rises, that he doesnt forget us – because we most certainly wont forget him.”
Joining Cobras Cianciarulo in a quest for Mini O gold will be defending Olympiad (SX/MX combined) champion in the 50cc 7-8 class, Connor Mitchell (Oregon City, Ore.). Another big name aboard a Cobra King 50 next week will be Thomas Covington (Oshkosh, Wisc.). Covington was on the Mini Os podium last year in the 50cc 7-8 Supercross Division.
Other 7-8 age class Cobra racers vying for podium spots include: Blake Green (recent top Mini O performer, National title at Branson in 05), Matt Burkeen (top three finishes at every National this year) and Coleman Martin (member of the winning Mini Trophy team). And making the jump early to the senior class are the top 2005 junior Cobra riders - Michael Young (2005 Oak Hill National title), Carter Stephenson (2nd at Lorettas this year) and Bradley Esper (05 Lorettas podium finisher).
In the 4-6 age class, keep an eye on Cobras Hayden Justice, Jacob Edison and Rookie White – all of who have put up some excellent results through out the summer.
